Experience

Stuart’s practice focuses on commercial real estate and project land transactions, offering extensive experience across a wide range of commercial real estate and land matters governed by both the Land Titles Act (Alberta) and the Public Lands Act (Alberta). He is particularly knowledgeable in areas such as pipeline and midstream issues, telecommunications real estate, land assembly for development, and compliance with Alberta’s Foreign Ownership of Land Regulations for foreign-controlled corporate acquisitions. Stuart’s expertise also spans commercial and residential subdivisions, development and planning, leasing, and the acquisition and disposition of commercial real estate.

In his practice, Stuart frequently handles transactions involving commercial real estate developments such as office buildings, shopping centers, and industrial properties. His leasing work covers retail, industrial, and office developments, including land leases and financing of leasehold estates. He also handles complex project financing, condominium developments, title insurance matters, joint ventures, limited partnerships, and co-ownership agreements, often liaising with municipalities and regulatory bodies. His work involves comprehensive due diligence and title reviews, with additional experience advising on First Nations land matters, including experience with portfolio sales and acquisitions.
