Experience

Alex joined Parlee McLaws in 2024 bringing experience in contentious civil and public law matters. He aims to bring a common-sense approach to his practice which includes commercial litigation, construction disputes, insurance litigation, and employment law. Alex has appeared in the Alberta Court of Justice and Court of King’s Bench of Alberta on matters that span a range of businesses and industries.

Prior to joining the firm, Alex practiced at boutique civil litigation and criminal defence firms where his work resulted in several published decisions. Meticulous advocacy and strong client relationships remain at the forefront of his practice.

Before a career in legal practice, Alex negotiated commercial agreements and managed bids and tenders in Alberta’s energy industry. Here, he learned how to efficiently allocate risk concerning scope of work, supply chain, and liability. This industry experience developed a business acumen that continues to frame his legal practice today.

Alex holds a Bachelor of Management in Finance from the University of Lethbridge and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Exeter in his native country of the United Kingdom. While attending law school, Alex served as Associate Editor of the Exeter Law Review and completed a legal internship in Geneva, Switzerland, offering research support on private international law matters.

In his spare time, Alex can be found on the tennis court, exploring the trails of Kananaskis Country, or in the kitchen embarking on his latest culinary adventure.
