Summer Law Student Employment Program
(Edmonton office only. Our Calgary office does not currently offer a summer student program.)
The summer positions for 2013 are now filled.
The Parlee McLaws LLP Edmonton office has had a summer employment program for first year law students for many years. Our firm hires three or four law students who have completed their first year of law.
The program is designed to have the students work an eight-hour day. There is no billable time requirement. The primary objective is to introduce the students to the day-to-day practice of law and to Parlee McLaws LLP.
Our students are given a wide range of legal assignments similar in nature to those in our articling program. Senior lawyers are appointed as mentors to assist students through the three to four months of employment and give them exposure to our key practice areas. Informal performance evaluations are provided.
Our summer students are encouraged to participate in the many social events of our firm.
Hire Back Policy
Historically many of our summer students return as articling students and then continue their legal career as associate lawyers and partners of Parlee McLaws LLP.
Application Process
Our Articling Committee will interview applicants in November of each year. Resumes should be submitted to Parlee McLaws LLP by October 15 of each year as follows:
